Canada Immigration Services - Individual Immigration
temporary status | permanent residence status
Canada requires immigrants for economic and demographic growth. As a result, the Federal Department of Citizenship and Immigration introduced new immigration criteria in 2002 which enables individuals of any race, religion or nationality to immigrate to Canada.
Although permanent entry is the goal of government, the legislation also sets out the criteria which individuals much meet in order to reside in Canada temporarily based on employment, education and other similar criteria.
Canada welcomes thousands of immigrants, students and workers from around the world every year. The main objective of our immigration system is to encourage the entry of individuals who have family or employment ties to Canada and who have education, youth, work experience and by virtue of their possessions and abilities will have a good likelihood of becoming successfully established in Canada temporarily or permanently.
Individuals may enter Canada based on temporary status or permanent residence status.
